So Much to Say!

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Well, it’s been awhile since my last blog. Not that I’m a huge blogger, but hopefully some one out there is interested even just a little.

Since we last spoke () I’ve had a couple of other shows, a Voting Party for the LA Music Awards and then of course the Awards show and did a radio interview!

So first off! Thanks to all those who voted for me! I WON!!! 🙂 Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year!!!  It’s the first time I’ve ever won anything like that! I’m posting picture now of the awards show and me with my sweet plaque!

This weekend, Saturday and Sunday, about 5pm-6pm you can hear my interview on 90.1 FM KBPK and hear “Beautifully Broken”!!  check out their website for more info:  www.kbpk-fm.com

Nov. 14th, I had the pleasure of singing at the 1st Southern Baptist of Lakewood church again and hang out with the Living for Christ Youth Group!  Always a great time and I love Pastor Jim! Such a heart for the Lord and those kids are just awesome! Keep them in your prayers!

Hunter and I, oh, for those of you who don’t know…Hunter is my amazing guitarist and we had our first gig together Nov 7th at the Talking Stick in Venice Beach! He is so good you guys, I can’t even tell you and I’m so blessed to have him play with me. We’re gonna head into the studio real soon!  (special thanks to his friends and mine that came out to see the show!)

Also, Nov 21st (today), Hunter and I performed again at the Concert for a Cause at the 1st Congregational Church of Buena Park and that was amazing! Not only did I have the pleasure of performing with Hunter again, but also with the Get Up Youth Group! Amazing kids and they were incredible! I’m so proud of them. I should hopefully have video soon so keep checking out the myspace page!  Also, my good friend, Rachel played some of her new songs from her new album, Fairytale!  You have to check her out too! She’s brilliant!

Well, that’s about all for now!  I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and I look forward to chatting with you again!

Don’t be a stranger!

LA Music Awards Showcase!

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

So, this past Friday, I performed at the Life! on Wilshire for the LA Music Awards Showcase which is a great way for all of the nominees to share their gifts and passion for music.

The Life! on Wilshire was a beautiful L.A. restaurant/club, which was right off of Cresent Heights and Wilshire Blvd. I arrived at 8pm and was immediately greeted by Al Bowman and his lovely wife, Susanna who are the founders of the LA Music Awards.

You know, when Al introduced me before my set, you could really tell that he was passionate about music and I was so touched that he appreciated my music and songwriting. He said that he loved that my album crosses the genres, as it has many different styles (pop, jazz, blues, folk, etc) and that not only was I nominated along with David Upton for Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year (which he presented me with a beautifully framed certificate) but that I might also get a nomination for Best Single and Best Triple A Song!

I hope to find that out soon!!

I had an amazing crowd of friends and loved ones there to support me! My heart smiles because of their support and presence!

I started out my set with “Lost” and then spoke a little with the crowd about how God has been able to use my struggles with RSD (nerve disorder) to not only become a better woman but to also lean on Him for all of my needs. Through Him and my journey through this valley, have I been able to write my album and perform again!

Then I performed “Beautifully Broken”, “I’m On My Way”, “You Are”, “Amazing Grace” and “Because of Who You Are”.

I really love Indie Music…not only is it innovative, but you feel a kind of kinship with the other artists, and as much as I enjoyed the other artists who performed along with me that night–David Upton, Brian Judah, Whitney Steele and Jamie Myers, you could tell that they were just as supportive and enjoying my music! For that I thank them!

I posted some pictures from that night on my Myspace page and once I receive the video, graciously taken by my dear friend, Joseph, I will post that up as well.

My hope for all of you is that you realize that the gifts the God gives you, whether it’s singing, dancing, acting, being a good parent, finance, lawyer, doctor, etc…whatever it is…is that when we put God first and open our heart to His will and put our Faith in Him…He will move mountains for us and bless us abundantly.
I hope that my music inspires you to reach out and grasp what God is offering, which is everlasting, eternal life through Christ Jesus.

John 3:16–
For God so loved the World that He gave His only Begotten Son, so that WHOSOEVER believes in Him will not perish but will RECEIVE Everlasting Life!!

Amen!!

Abundant Life Church Performance

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Wow, what a great night! Last night, Friday June 6, 2008, I performed a homecoming concert at my home church in N. Swansea at Abundant Life Assembly of God.

I’ll have pictures on in my myspace album soon!!

The fellowship hall was filled with family, friends and friends to be that enjoyed the coffee house atmosphere that Pastor Mike and his youth group helped set up the night before the concert.

The concert started out a little rocky with some microphone issues, and thankfully with a mic change and a lot of prayer, we started the first song over and it was smooth sailing.

I started out the concert with my first track, “Father” and then followed with 8 other songs from my album.
Here’s the song selection:
“Father”
“Don’t Cry”
“Beautifully Broken”
“Lost”
“Meet Me Here”
“I’m On My Way”
“I Don’t Wanna”
“You Are”
“Thank You”

I was so excited to be able to share my music and God’s message! Thank you all that came to the concert for supporting my music ministry and for openning your hearts to what the Lord has to say! I pray that you always know that God is there for you no matter what your struggling through whether it be physical ailments, like me with my RSD, or family issues, financial problems, job, etc…that God can get you through it. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says: “My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness, therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ’s power may rest on me”.

God is bigger than all of our problems and stresses in life, so we need to trust and believe that not only GOD CAN, BUT GOD WILL! I’ve seen it in my own life with being able to slowly over come the crippling pain of RSD and being able to write and record my album and spread God’s message that being broken is beautiful! We can do all things through Christ Jesus!

Looking forward to seeing you all again and gearing up for my next church tour in California with 3 Points of Light!

God bless and don’t be stressed!

In His Grip…Always,
Andrea

May 17th Shows Success!!

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Wow!! What a day!

So the day started out really early on May 17th.  I had to vocalize and get ready for a long day of singing and praising the Lord! Now, for those of you who know me…I’m not a morning person.  BUT, I think God gave me that extra personality boost that I needed for the early morning as we went over to the 1st Congregational Church to set up for the Walkathon, “Walking with Hope”, presented by Giving Children Hope.  Such a great organization. It’s a faith based foundation that helps children all around the globe.

This event raised about $15, 000 to help feed homeless children in the Orange County (CA) area!!!

Not only was I excited to perform with such other great talent such as K. Wylin, Matt Marcy, Squeeky Wheel, David Daniels, Packy, Team Velocity and Caine Sinclair…I was also very inspired by the act of kindness that Giving Children Hope does, that I decided to write a “theme” song for the event, aptly called, “Walking with Hope”.    I am looking forward to next year and hope to keep building that dollar amount higher and higher!

Also, later that night, I was invited back to perform at the Unurban Cafe in Santa Monica by the Java with Javelyn! I encourage all my indie artist friends to hook up with Javelyn for the chance to perform at her venues! She’s a great booker and also a fantastic singer/songwriter!

I feel so blessed to be able to be so busy this month with performances. To not allow my disability to own me, but to live my life despite my struggles and to praise God for His strength and grace as He sees me through it all!

Ok…I have to go and prep for this Friday’s performance at the Spirit West Coast Festival! I’ll be singing 2 songs, “Beautifully Broken” and “Lost” at the Rally’s for Christ stage and hopefully on the mainstage this Sunday!

In His Grip…Always,

Andrea
